Pap knocked Monopoly to the floor
in the front hall closet
when Grandma sold his hats
at Mary-Alice's yardsale.

Grandma heard the doorbell ring
from her room
from her kitchen
ding dong ditch,
was he angry.

She waited on her wicker porch chair
for no one to come to her door.

She tells Dad, I kept his hats in that closet for all those years,
I shouldn't have given them away.
He tells her, the battery in her doorbell is going to die,
the battery in her hearing aid is dying
Pap is dead.
